Cutting a tooth!!!

My poor peanut is cutting her first tooth. She HATES the gel you put on their gums to help numb it. I tried giving her an ice cube to suck on b/c she refuses her teethers and didn't like the ice either. I think her gums are so sensitive right now that nothing feels good on them :(. Anyone have any other teething tricks/suggestions? I have been giving her tylenol. How many days does it take for the tooth to totally pop out?

Every child is different..you have tried everything I know. (Shows how much I know!?!) Good luck-she will be even cuter with teeth-if you can believe that!

Don't have much advice in that area, I've never been able to figure it out. Sometimes they run a fever long before mr. toothy even shows itself.

By the way, I love the plumb song on your blog. I left your blog on while I worked the other day so I could listen to your music!

Not much advice from me either. Sorry! I swear Corben was working on his first couple of teeth for 6 months. We kind of favor Motrin in this house BUT if Kylee is below the recommended weight then well that's a different story. For a temporary fix Hyland's Teething Tablets work (for a few minutes) but they are homeopathic so no funky chemicals to break down. Also, you could try a baltic amber necklace. Someone thought Corben was a girl while he had his on so I haven't put it back on but it's thought that there is a natural analgesic property of baltic amber. They're inexpensive and you can buy them on ebay from Lithuania. Sorry for the novel... :) Good luck and happy teething!

Teething can be so miserable. Poor thing. My boys couldn't stand the stuff you put on the gums either. I used teething tablets for both of them, and they seemed to calm them down some. They're these teeny little tablets that are all natural and they dissolve immediately, so it's impossible to choke on them. It's just an herbal thing someone had recommended to me when nothing else seemed to work. For us, they actually worked better than anything else. You can get them at Walmart with the vitamins and stuff. They come in a little, little bottle. Good luck!

Anna doesn't like the orajel either. I even tried it on myself (I consider myself the guinea pig) and it was gross. I don't think every tooth is created equal. The top two hurt Anna the most, and the bottom ones didn't seem to bother her a bit. She would grind her top and bottom teeth together for a while and drove us both nuts! The good news? Teething is only temporary... until the next tooth pops in!!! :(

Ya, none of the teething tips worked for me either. I think they just have to grin and bear it - no pun intended!! Love Kylee's hairbow, I think we have the same ones!!

Aubrey has now cut 2 teeth and is still miserable. Dr said even after they come in they can still be miserable. We too prefer Motrin, seems to last longer and they don't need as much. You can try a washcloth that has a corner that is wet and then put in freezer to chew on if she likes the texture or I read somewhere you can put some water in a nipple, freeze then put on the bottle and let her hold and chew on. Aubrey tends to put everything in her mouth to get relief, but prefers the hard plastic things. Good luck!
